Omschrijving werk

The knowledge of our finiteness, out inevitable ending and the growing obvious awareness that we are living on a increasingly frail planet because of the solely of the consequence of human activity such as climate catastrophe and weapons of mass destruction it will might become obvious that to advert disaster maybe it is better to move to another planet? We are all familiar with the stories from science fiction, man setting off from earth, having to leave for any number of inhabitable reasons or in another scenario starting a Utopian autonomous new society, that perhaps in some cases ends up to be the opposite of what man has strived for or dreamed of. Hence the saying ¨ one man´s heaven is another man´s hell¨. Memory itself is in a state of continuous decay that we are our own pile of dreary and misshaped ruins. My particular interest comes in the ruin of the car park and urban spaces no longer useful and obsolete. Nobody knows what this future will look like, but with fantasy and imagination we can perhaps scratch the surface to define its possibilities? My work is an attempt to depict and portray a merging between real and non-real. That neither lies in the definition of escapism or in the view point of nostalgia for real nature and to use these ideas, these ideals as a way of depicting these possibilities. ¨The beacon in the car park¨ a was made by a fictitious person who has been left behind and who must have been in the situation to make a final attempt of being saved and not abandon by his fellow man kind in the hopes to contact one of ¨us¨ out there in the universe. The beacon is my rudimentary humble way to reach out to one of us when all is lost. On the abandon lost island. I believe now more than ever before in our history, artists living today are unique position to expertly reflect on the past and sees human kinds illness, its complexity and its frailnesses. I believe artists need to see themselves more than ever to be an intrinsic part of society
