Mark Pimlott: "My practice is unconventional, situated between the disciplines of art and architecture. It is concerned with the interpretation and making of places, and a closely related approach to the interior. My object has been to make places for Man, where one can be conscious of oneself and one’s place in the World, and others (other people, places and times); clearings, where re-imagining one’s position and one’s potential in the World becomes possible. This is a central aspect of my projects and realised works for places, buildings and interiors, my photographs, films and installations, and writing. Through all of these iterations, I have attempted to re-present the interdependence of things and environments that we make through our ideas. My priority has been to make the man-made world that is encountered a home, in which other times, places and people are met and reconciled. The material of my works has assumed a variety of forms, all of which depend upon representation to allude to other conditions, other places and times".
